“At the service of international creativity” An incessant work, for quality and selection, at the service of international creativity, without national barriers, but always open to comparison between Europe and America: between Piero Manzoni, Christo, Giulio Turcato, Mimmo Rotella etc. With editorial thrusts towards critical theory, such as “Body – art” and “Progetto Dolce” and the testimony towards “total art” experiences, as in the case of Giuseppe Chiari and John Baldessari. While other publishing houses, in order to save their budget, have carried out small-scale work, often publishing catalogues on commission, Prearo has preferred a leading role with personal choices of authors and movements, concerning the entire art system, as in the case of the collector Giorgio Franchetti and “ Italia 2000 – Arte e sistema dell'Arte ” which documents the work of the twenty-four best galleries, protagonists at the exhibition level of Italian contemporary art. At the same time, Giampaolo Prearo has never lacked attention towards the panorama of international artistic research, as demonstrated by the updating of the monograph by Bernar Venet , which welds European and American culture into his work. |

“The great monographic works” These works, abundantly illustrated (500 reproductions on average), represent an authentic compendium of visual documentation on the life and work of the selected authors. The general presentation texts, entrusted to qualified specialists, are intentionally short and synthetic. It is up to the reader to discover the artist's inner journey, through the layout and the visual documents made available to him. This " intimate diary " in pictures is aimed at both the specialist and the layman, at all those who are fascinated and passionate about the human adventure, at the level of creation. This collection is a challenging and long-term work. If the undertaking is completed, within a few years, Giampaolo Prearo will have greatly contributed to enriching the archives of contemporary art with the publication of modern, clear and precise documents, instruments of knowledge, pleasure and study. |

For Prearo. Since the days of the great monographs Turcato and Rotella, not to mention the first version of Piero Manzoni's general catalogue, Giampaolo Prearo has been a very important point of reference for my generation of art critics. He still is: long live the publisher. |

I don't remember when I met Giampaolo Prearo . I had heard of him in a legendary way. Since then, numerous collaborations have seen us committed to working with passion until today. His enthusiasm, his experience with international artists, his constant attention to detail, make him the editor of aesthetics. His are, in all respects, art books, fundamental documents for knowledge. In the world of globalized and flattened communication, the publishing house Giampaolo Prearo appears to be a happy oasis of the highest quality. |

In 1971 I was looking for a co-editor for Data Arte, I immediately met the youngest of the time, I found a seducer of artists who knew how to live. I owe it to Giampaolo Prearo if I was able to continue my newborn magazine, he was an imaginative uncle. Self-confident and elegant, careful in sniffing out the best artists, not only masters, to publish. In 1973, together with Pierre Restany , with whom I was a colleague at Domus, Prearo entrusted me with the texts for the great monograph on Mimmo Rotella, the first and the most authoritative. We were together in New York and the publisher started projects with Minimal painters and sculptors that gave him very distinct visibility, such that he published with Prearo Editore , important books with Christo, Chiari, Agnetti, Tilson, Philips , the first authoritative monograph by Germano Celant on Piero Manzoni , the book Body Art by Lea Vergine and everything that follows in this online catalogue. I'm coming back here too as if it were home. |

“Reference point for contemporary art” A dynamic and creative promoter of international contemporary art publications, in 2019 Giampaolo Prearo received the “Prince of Publishers” Plaque from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts. Care and attention to image quality, layout and the relationship with the artist are essential elements in the work of a Publishing House like that of Giampaolo Prearo, an important publisher and point of reference for contemporary art. Prearo designs, edits and prints books as unique pieces, essential tools for the work and dissemination of the artist's work. After fifty years of activity, Prearo Editore still plays an important role in Italian contemporary art, following its events. Gifted with great intuition, Giampaolo has edited the theoretical texts of some of the greatest figures in contemporary criticism, including editions that are now rare and unobtainable. |

Thick silver hair, elegant and colorful clothes, a little eccentric. Sometimes he looks like a lion tamer, sometimes he wears silk scarves with floral patterns, refined and vaguely retro. The exclusive perfume. The charm of a far-sighted man, who has always had his say in a difficult and delicate field, an artist of the artist's book. Giampaolo Prearo, with his booming voice and his beautiful book series, puts everything in order in the world of art, just as he orders and aligns his splendid volumes. Between pages and pages of history of the best artists and the best critics, you will find the publication in glass, metal, wood, up to the new project with rags. |
